CGRoverboard CONAN: TOWER OF THE ELEPHANT for iPad Video Game Review

November 4th, 2011 Leave a comment Go to comments

Classic Game Room presents a CGRoverboard review of Conan: Tower of the Elephant from Chillingo for the iPad. Coinciding with the release of the new Conan movie, Conan: Tower of the Elephant is a top-down action game that has lots of RPG element. You control Conan by touching the circle on the bottom left, and you attack by touching the circle on the bottom right. It’s an easy game to understand. You run around, accept quests and slice up enemies, and as long as you’re into Conan, that’s probably enough to keep you interested. The game’s story is told via cut scenes that look like comic books. You even have to swipe the screen like you’re flipping a page to access the next scene, which is a really cool touch. I like the presentation in this game…or at least, the presentation during the cut scenes. In game, on the other hand, things aren’t as interesting. This video review features video gameplay footage of Conan: Tower of the Elephant for the iPad and audio commentary from Classic Game Room’s Derek. @Deihlanos Software updates are different then a new OS.
The software updates are to patch things that dont work well.
A different OS well… is a new OS it may look like the same as the last one but it’s different plus not alot of people like change.

Plus the 3ds is a new console, i would agree the 3D was a dumb idea

    @Deihlanos
No, it’s not just a DS with 3D put in.
Its more powerful and has better online.
But the 3DS is getting a redesign anyways so who cares.

@crawford1990x Actually, yes, you have paid (unless you hacked/stole). Every time you go from Win 95 to 98, or to XP, or to 7, you pay (alot) for what is just another version of exactly the same OS. NO different from the iOS updates, which is EXACTLY that except only 5 dollars. What did you THINK they were charging you for?

Also, the 3DS is just the DS but with totally pointless headache-inducing 3D in. It’s really not much of an upgrade either. There’s a reason why it’s selling poorly.

You should have done the entire review from the viewpoint of Schwarzenegger.

@artydean2 They probably quit because they don’t make very much money and it’s a lot of work to make these reviews every day.

@crawford1990x Er…. that’s exactly what Nintendo DOES, though. The 3DS just came out. You need to buy a 3DS to play 3DS games, you cannot use them on the old DS. It’s been the same for YEARS, all the way back to the old GameBoy Color. Soon, normal “DS” games will go out of production. That’s how these things WORK.That’s how they HAVE to work. *ALL* of these companies do this. It’s called “business”.

And if you think updates never cost money, you cant have been using computers long.

@Deihlanos ffs really when they bring out a new edition every year it’s a little shity plus i had a first gen “HAD” i got rid of it its more like nintendo making games just for ds lite and saying no it will not work on ds you will have to buy a new ds lite

i dont care if the software update £0.01 or $0.01 you should not need to pay for a fucking update

@crawford1990x Ooookay. That’s because you were using a FIRST generation device. The fact that an update even exists for it amazes me. The very concept is absurd…. it’d be like Nintendo “updating” the original Gameboy to play 3DS games.

….it also, apparantly, only cost 5 dollars. Again, the problem is YOURS if you cant afford 5 dollars…. in that case, you shouldnt be buying this stuff to begin with.

And yes, you bet other services charge for software updates at times.

Don’t blame Derek, guys. Jen doesn’t work for CGR anymore. With Ray, Angela and now Jen all leaving, I get the sense there’s a lot going on behind the scenes at CGR we don’t know about.
